I advise owners, boards and executives on decisions which cross finance, operations, governance and risk. Loosemore Advisory is my own practice and the work is done by me.

I began my career in corporate tax at KPMG, then worked in corporate advisory at Orion with a focus on resources and energy, and then in credit rating advisory at UBS Investment Bank. These roles included privatisations, mergers and acquisitions, and questions concerning capital structure.

I was a barrister at the Victorian Bar from May 2013 until August 2020, with a practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the Federal Court of Australia. Most of that work was in large commercial proceedings, and a considerable part of it in shareholder and investor claims against listed companies. Work of that kind consists in reconstructing, from the documents, how an organisation came to a decision for which it afterwards had to account, and in identifying the point at which what was known within the organisation stopped travelling to the people who needed to know it. I am no longer admitted to practise.

I completed a doctorate at Melbourne Law School concerned with remedies, and in particular with statutory injunctions, the equitable jurisdiction and damages under Lord Cairns’ Act. The thesis was published as a monograph in 2026.

I held executive responsibility for operations as General Manager, Operations at Applyflow, with a team distributed across Australia and the Philippines. The work was the development of new in-house capabilities and offerings, changes to the structure of teams, and the establishment of an in-house buy-now-pay-later function for recruiter fees.

Since 2023 my work has included advice concerning internal management; work with charities and with the funders who support them, on presenting a case for support, on giving methodology and on collaborative giving; and financial and operational analysis for owners facing significant commercial decisions.

I am both commercial and cautious. Much of the value in this work comes from reading the paperwork, the model or the reporting closely enough to see what it actually says, and then being direct about what follows from it.
